it doesn’t have to be gay (though that would be preferred). i just want cas to realize, either on his own or from jack’s mouth, that sam cares about jack as a person. no matter how much he fucks up, as long as jack has the right intentions, sam will love, forgive, and support him. son of satan or not. even if he couldn’t have saved mary.

he’s only ever seen jack (physically) as an adult, but sam saw a child with no mother, an absent father, and a dead guardian, lost in the world with a target on his back. sam saw himself, and he’s giving (or trying to, anyway) jack the support he needs to grow. this is an area cas has no expertise in (as far as we know), and dean is not willing to help much, if at all, without direct reward.

sam winchester is being the support system he wishes he’d had growing up. the least they can give him is credit.
