Talking with @bendingsignpost about non-traditional a/b/o and I’ve decided that it’s COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS that only mates scent bond. Like, why don’t people smell each other and suddenly decide Yes You’re My Family Now?
Sam gets a whiff of Castiel and adopts him as a new brother. Dean adopts a gaggle of teens because the hormones that drive his daddy instinct are higher than normal.
And of course Ben pointed out the obvious: Bobby grabbing the Winchester boys and keeping them as his own.
MOAR NON-TRADITIONAL SCENT BONDS PLS KTHXBAI.
Yes! 😀 I’m all about this! I use scent for all kinds of bonds in Packrunners. Friendship bonds, family bonds, mating bonds. Inability to smell as a major handicap that affects one’s social life. Bonds altering the scent slightly so people can smell you’re bonded and even distinguish between friendship bonds and mating bonds. Societal norms based on scent like ‘signing’ a document by putting a scent mark on the paper or scent marking the plaque outside your office so people know you’re in. Omegas ‘skunking’ if they’re pushed for sex when they’re unwilling, rendering Alphas unable to get it up or making them lose their boners. (Hah! Screw rapey ABOs. If scent is a turn on then it can just as easily be a turnoff!) The possibilities are endless!
