i am SO glad i got to read that post abt gabriel you made. i hate that fanon gabe is such a joke. he’s a coward, like you said, but also one with immense power and one to be feared. he’s extremely dark (mystery spot really shows that, too). i do everything i can to keep gabriel out of my fics because he’s a character i know i can’t properly do justice too. i feel like that about all the archangels in fanon too, though. they’re each given a very specific personality and played down to the point-

where that’s ALL they are. in AUs, it’s always michael the asshole oldest brother, lucifer who is annoying and obnoxious but tolerable, gabriel how you described him, and then raphael who everyone either hates or ignores (i have lots of opinions on that). i hate this so much because that isn’t how they are. michael is an asshole, yes, but he’s doing what he thinks/has been taught is right- he isnt deliberately trying to fuck shit up. he’s a robot and it’s his programming. lucifer is the friggin devil, for fuck’s sake. he’s evil, he’s dark, he’s manipulative. he does what he wants when he wants. he isn’t just annoying and he certainly isn’t the supportive big bro. both him and michael know what they want and will do whatever they can to get it; and why shouldn’t they? aside from god himself who’s nowhere to be found, they’re the 2 most powerful things around. just ,, ugh. i want to see more writing with the archangels portrayed accurately, it’s frustrating. sorry for the rant
