“Oh, FUCK,” Gabriel said. He and Castiel exchanged terrified looks. “We, uh… Heaven’s on full alert right now. A Nephilim has been conceived, and we didn’t know who or where or how. Every angel alive has reported in, me and Cas about fifteen times apiece swearing that no, we have not knocked you up, you’re not even built for that. And every angel alive swears they either haven’t been with humans, haven’t been with humans who could conceive, or made sure that no conception took place.”
“All but one, apparently,” Castiel said. “Lucifer.”
“And trust me, we do NOT want my big bro’s kid running around down here unchecked. We need to find the mother of this baby and persuade her to either terminate the pregnancy or come here where I can take care of the kid. And then we gotta find a way to deal with Lucy, apparently.”
“I’m sorry. This is my fault. I should never…”
Sam cut Castiel off with a kiss, and Gabriel hit him with a wingsmack to the head. “Or this is my fault,” Sam said. “If I hadn’t gotten suckered by the visions Lucifer sent me, you wouldn’t have gone to the Cage to rescue me from him. If I hadn’t broken the Mark of Cain, the Cage would never have cracked and we wouldn’t have needed help with Amara. If Dean hadn’t taken the Mark of Cain, blah blah blah. Plenty of blame to go around, Cas.”
“Okay. Shitstorm outside, but Samshine, you look exhausted. We’re taking the night off. In the morning, we rally the troops, find Lucifer and his baby mama and do what we need to do. Deal?”
“Yeah. Gabe? This is probably…”
Gabe reached out and stroked Sam’s face. “I know. No wings, no Enochian, no using my grace to go beyond normal human means of loving you. Not with Lucy out there running free.”

Visiting the bar became more frequent for Sam, now that he had Cas to use for cover. Castiel was very happy to have him there – sitting close together, the occasional casual touch, Anna would probably call Castiel an idiot but he would gladly take what he could get.
Right now, Sam was off playing a game of darts with Dean against some visiting friends of theirs, Ellen and Jo Harvelle. Castiel had chosen to stay at the table to make sure no one took it. He regretted that when Becky came walking up to him. “Sam’s busy.”
“I know. You don’t interrupt him when he’s in a game of darts against Jo Harvelle. I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. You and Sam are weird! Sam never lets anyone sit close like that, even when they’ve got a bunch of friends visiting, except Dean. And you know, I know they’re brothers so it would never happen, but if I didn’t know they were brothers I’d think there was something else going on there. I mean, everyone knows Sam’s bi, and there are a lot of people who think Dean is too he just won’t admit it for some screwed-up reason.”
A shout from Jo drew Castiel and Becky’s attention. Lisa had just showed up and interrupted the game to plant a kiss on Dean. Becky smirked. “And then there’s Dean’s thing for Lisa. They really need to just get together already, don’t you think?”
“I think when and if Dean and Lisa get together is entirely up to the two of them, and that my opinion of the matter is completely irrelevant.”
“Whatever. So why does Sam let you so close to him?” Becky asked.
Sam sat close to Castiel because it helped keep clueless people from coming over and hitting on either one of them. Sam acted in a way that would cause people to assume they were together so that people would make that assumption. Therefore, Castiel didn’t hesitate to tell Becky, “There is something happening with Sam and me. We are not brothers.” It wasn’t exactly the truth, but it wasn’t a lie, either. Castiel had fallen in love with Sam in his not-quite year on Earth, and Sam… Castiel wasn’t certain whether it was wishful thinking or truth that Sam seemed to enjoy the excuse to act like boyfriends as much as he did.
Becky pouted. “No fair. I saw him first!”
Castiel scowled at her. He’d never liked Becky, but this sort of petulance was pushing it into active hate. “It’s not about who saw him first. It’s about who Sam chooses to be with that matters, and he has made it very clear that he does not choose to be with you. If he chooses to be with me, you have no right to interfere, and I’m certainly not enough of a fool to say no and attempt to force him to choose you instead just because you ‘saw him first’.”
A gasp drew both of their attention. Sam was standing right there. “Cas?”
“Sam. Becky was…”
Sam stared at Castiel, and then moved to press a soft kiss to his lips. He pulled back. “Is this okay?”
“Yes. Very.” Castiel pulled him back into a much stronger kiss.

Well Hello There! Somehow I made it to 366 followers!! I intended to do this celebration for 350 but, y’know, life, holidays…. So here it is now!
I haven’t been around this fandom very long, but I have never felt so at home and welcomed by a fandom. I’ve also spent the last year or so reading Destiel fic like it was my calling, my passion, my civic duty. Fun fact: when you dive into a fandom with 12 years of accumulated fanfic, there’s a deep deep well to draw from…..

Our Bodies, Possessed By Lightby obstinatrix Rated E 40k Summary: Purged of all his souls, Castiel is a changed being, stronger than an angel and too powerful for Jimmy’s body to contain. Happily, there’s an archangel’s vessel on hand, and he could use fixing, too. Dean isn’t too happy about the idea of his brother acting as a vessel for Castiel, and Sam can guess why, but it isn’t until Castiel gets inside his head and they learn to share the vessel – and their thoughts – that Sam realises Cas is as in love with Dean as Dean is with him. It’s unfortunate that there’s nothing much to be done about it now, but Castiel will get another vessel soon. The Winchesters will make damn sure of that. In the meantime, it’s up to the three of them to establish their own strange accord, and Dean realises more fully than ever that it’s Castiel, and not his vessel, that he loves. (Reccer’s note: Don’t let the premise squick you. This is very CLEARLY a Destiel story, in spite of Sam’s front row seat. I love all the relationships in this fic, Sam and Dean’s brotherly antagonizing/affection, Sam and Cas’s growing friendship, Cas and Dean’s straining, passionate adoration. All three of them are superbly written, but Cas especially. This also has some of the most scorchingly hot not-quite-sex ever written. Seriously. How can something be so fucking hot when everyone’s wearing two layers of clothing? Beats me.)
Rock ‘n’ Roll Queer Bar(series) by ChasingRabbits Rated E 126.7k Summary: Ellen and Jo Harvelle run Harvelle’s Roadhouse, a bar that unintentionally becomes a beacon for wayward queer souls. Her employees: Dean, the smartass runaway with a big heart and bigger mouth; Castiel, the college drop-out turned hippie; his (surprisingly heterosexual) trouble-making brother Gabriel; and Charlie, who has been told several times that the back room is not to be used for after-hours Dungeons & Dragons games. But there’s a lot of love in this place, and a new family for anyone who may otherwise be without. (Reccer’s note: The description doesn’t really do this series justice. This is the most realistic and beautifully and believably written long-term relationship I have ever read. They go through so much together, and they do it all TOGETHER. It’s beautiful. I devoured this in a day and a half, then went right back to the beginning and read it all over again. It’s Just. That. Good.)
