Sam’s Problem (part 12)

emptywithout:

This is the final chapter. End of the story. Thanks to those of you who stuck with me. You’ve raised my confidence and I’ve gained friends and followers. Thank you all so so much.

There are plans for a new story coming very soon!

“Samuel Winchester, what have you
done?”

“Rowena?” Cas looked from Sam to Rowena, wondering what she
saw that he didn’t.

“I’ve never seen so much power from someone who isn’t a
witch. This could be dangerous, Castiel.”

“Rowena, I’m fine. Let me get Dean home.” Sam said,
exasperated.

Rowena took another step back from Sam as he started to move
towards the car.

“He’s not stable Castiel, he has no control over this.”

“What exactly does that mean, Rowena?” but Cas didn’t need
to ask. Just at that moment, Sam twitched again.

“What’s wrong with me?” Sam asked suddenly. He twitched again
and very nearly dropped Dean. Cas grabbed him before he hit the ground and quickly
touched his forehead, as Sam grabbed his head and collapsed to the ground. Dean
regain consciousness quickly after Cas used his grace, and he immediately
swooped to his younger brother, who now twitched every few seconds. He had no
control over his body. And then he cried out in pain.

“Rowena, do you know what’s going on here?” bellowed Dean. “Is
there anything you can do to help him?”

“Aye, I can help him. But it’s going to take some time. This
is not something he’s going to be rid of, I’m afraid.” She stayed a few feet
away, but did show concern over Sam’s state.

“You mean this is permanent?”
Rowena smiled gently and tentatively walked towards Sam, putting her hand on his
shoulder.

She whispered something in his ear that neither Cas nor Dean
could hear. Sam, still on the ground holding his head, nodded. He twitched
again.

Rowena stood up and smoothed her dress.

“Yes. Permanent I’m afraid. But I can help him control it. I
can show him how to live with it.”

“So what, Sam’s a witch now?” Cas asked curiously.

“No dearie, no one just ‘becomes’ a witch like that.” She
paused, looking from Dean to Cas and finally to Sam.

“I know Sam has had abilities in the past. He’s got powers
buried deep within him. I’ve told him before that I could help him. But
now…well, this is different.” She sounded almost sad.

“Well, what is ‘this’?” asked Dean, who was still on the
ground holding his brother. He was starting to lose his cool.

“I’ve only seen this once before.”

“And?” asked Dean

“And…well, let’s just say Samuel here is a lot stronger than
he was.”

Dean shook his head angrily. Sam was now twitching every few
seconds

“Cas, can you help him? He’s kinda losing it right now!”

Cas leaned over and touched Sam’s forehead. He stopped
twitching and went limp in Dean’s arms.

“Alright Rowena.
Let’s go.” Dean and Cas put Sam in the Impala, and Rowena climbed into
the backseat with him. She calmly placed her hands on the side of his face and
started chanting.

The drive home was practically silent.

*******

(some weeks later)

“So…why did you suddenly become so powerful Sam? I saw you
break free from those chains. Those chains were magically binding. There’s no
way you could have broken free from that. You never showed signs of this kind
of power before.” Cas leaned across the table towards Sam, eager for some kind
of answer.

Sam turned to Cas. “It’s whatever it was he injected me
with. It enhanced the powers that were dormant in me. Like I said, I’d been
doing it for months. I was…keeping it a secret.  I guess it took anger to release it.” He
shrugged.

Dean continued for Sam, “Rowena won’t tell us what it was.
Apparently it’s addicting, and Sam’s still weaning off of it. It would be too
easy for him to just re-inject himself, if he ever really wanted to.”

“You mean you were injected with that…stuff…more than once?”

Sam stared off in the distance, his smile fading. “Yeah,” he
said quietly.

On the other side of the kitchen, Dean poured two glasses of
whiskey. He slowly walked toward his brother,  setting Sam’s drink down on the table, and
bringing his own back to the chair across from him.

Sam twitched again, and Dean noticed.

“Are you sure you’ve got this, Sam? It’s not a problem?”  Dean looked concerned.

“It’s ok Dean, it’s not a problem anymore.” Dean nodded and
smiled at his brother, raising his glass of whiskey.

It wasn’t a problem. Sam was just going to have to get used
to it.

Sam smiled back and opened his hand. The glass slid easily
across the table and into his waiting fingers.

Yeah, he’d get used to it.

Sam’s Problem (part 11)

emptywithout:

ok, ok…I’m sorry. This really really got away from me. This is NOT the end. I’m not gonna leave it here. But this went on and on, and I needed a stopping point. I didn’t want it to be too long.

Next part is almost done, so it will be up tomorrow sometime. Thanks for sticking with me, and I’m sorry this just keeps going…

Not Beta’d so all mistakes are mine…

Sam stood beside the shattered pieces of the restraints that
had once held him. Cas looked on in awe, momentarily distracted by what he was
seeing.

Sam stood there, pure energy coursing through him. The power
he felt was incredible. He looked down at his hands. He opened and closed them,
looking at his fingers as though he had never seen them before. He did not
notice the angel who was now walking towards him. He did not hear him either.
All he heard and felt was this new energy that was consuming his very being. Sam
closed his eyes, welcoming the transition.

Cas took three long steps, then began to run. “Sam! Sam, do
you hear me? Sam!”

Sam was emitting a sort of purple glow, an essence that he,
as an angel, was able to perceive. Sam was completely oblivious to his
presence.  When Cas finally reached him
and put his hand on Sam’s shoulder, the younger Winchester turned to look at
him. But Cas knew he did not see him. His eyes were seeing something else
entirely.

“Dean…” Sam growled. His voice was low and deep, a sound Cas
had never heard from Sam before.

“Sam?” Cas asked, concerned. He wondered what he should do.
Should he just transport him? Restrain him? But just as he was about to put his
fingers to Sam’s forehead, Sam shivered and went limp. Cas grabbed him before
he collapsed, and held him up.

“Whoa, Sam. Sam?” unexpectedly, Sam stood up and gently
pushed Cas’ hands off of him.

Sam looked directly at Cas, and now seemed to be completely –
well, normal wasn’t quite the word, but he was at least back in this plane of
reality. He seemed calm.

“Cas…I’m…I’m…fine. I’m ok.” He looked at his hands again. “I
feel really, really good, actually.” He laughed. Then Sam twitched a little,
his hands and face jerking to the side twice.

“Sam?”

“No, Cas, I’ve figured it out. It’s all ok.” He straightened
up and looked around the room. He clenched his fists by his sides.

“You’ve figured – what have you figured out, Sam?” Cas still
was ready to just take off and head back to the bunker, but something kept him
here, right beside Sam.  And where was
Dean, anyway?

“We need to get Dean.”

“Sam, I’m not so sure you’re – “

Sam twitched again, and turned on Cas, grabbing him around
the throat. His eyes gleamed a deep purple.

“I said, we need to get Dean.” He immediately released Cas
without incident, and turned to walk out of the room. He twitched again. He was
still barefoot, and was now walking across shards of splintered wood and metal.
He didn’t even notice. A stunned Cas, unsure of what to do, simply followed
him.

Sam walked right out the door, stepping over the man who was
still out cold on the floor.  But there was no time to investigate that any further. Sam was
on a mission.

They entered a long dark corridor beyond the door. They
moved quickly, Sam ignoring Cas’ attempts to get his attention.

“Sam, please, just let me look at you. Let me see – “ at
that moment, they reached a large wooden door. Sam raised his hand, and the
door simply crumbled to the ground.

“Well, ok, this is an interesting development.” Cas rubbed
the back of his neck, wondering what he should be doing in this situation.

Sam stepped through the door. And stopped. Lying in the
corner, was an unconscious Dean. Cas gasped and tried to run past Sam to get to
him. But Sam threw his arm out and stopped him.

“Let me,” said Sam. He bent down
and shook his brother gently. Dean did not respond, and Sam’s body twitched. Cas
noticed and he reached out to offer support, but Sam pulled away. He picked up
his brother and walked out the door, Cas right on his heels.

Rowena was waiting outside for
them. She saw Sam walking with Cas, and a limp Dean in his arms.

“Oh, you found him! You – “ She
stopped cold. She put her arms up in front of her, as if she needed to protect
herself.  She took a few steps back.

“Samuel Winchester, what have you
done?”

anti-blog:

So, Sam is in a dark place.  It’s getting more difficult to push the terrors in his memories away, and he shares that with Rowena.

I know it’s just wishful thinking but I would love for this to be leading up to some kind of re-emergence of Sam’s ‘abilities’.

Rowena teaches Sam some ‘basic’ things that will help him when it comes to the memories of Lucifer.
She realizes Sam’s got talents of his own and she encourages him not to deny them reminding him that having abilities doesn’t make him evil.

Yes, it’s just a wishful head canon but it would be cool none the less.

OMG this shall be my head canon as well can some wonderful author please write this and I will read it with great enthusiasm!!!
