Have you been thinking about writing for this year’s Sam Winchester Big Bang? Do you have an idea for a Sam-centric story that could run at 5,000 words or more? Could you have 2,500 words written before the 26 November?
Then you need to act now!
Writer sign ups for the bang will close at midnight today, 5 November (as long as it’s still 5 November somewhere in the world… you’re good). Fill in our handy sign up sheet and register your interest with us. You will then have until November 26 to write your rough draft, which should be at least half the minimum word count requirement for your bang (5,000 for minis; 15,000 for bigs). Artist claims will be on December 1.
Writer sign-up closed and we have over 50 writers signed up for the first SPN Eldritch Bang! We can’t wait to read all the eerie, creepy, awesome fics.
Now, we want to focus on all of you amazing artists.
With several events running this fall, we’re extending the artist sign-up to September 25. Fic claims will then take place via Google forms on September 29, starting at 9 am CT.
Each fic will be a minimum of 5k and artists would create one piece of art per fic.
Yes, after taking a little break last year the SWBB is back and more attractively grizzled than ever for 2018-19. Sign-ups for both artists and writers are open now and run until 5 November (writers) and 26 November (artists).
As the name suggests, fics for this challenge should focus on Sam as the primary character. You can choose to write a mini (5k+) or a big bang (15k+). Rough drafts are due 26 November and artist claims will be on 1 December. Fics will start posting on 7 January 2019.
There comes a time in one’s life where they must set aside their pride and ask for assistance. Such a time has come for me, unfortunately.
There are a lot of things my family and I need and we’re hit some really hard financial times. (If you want an idea of what that means, check out this post) I never thought I’d have to resort to this (pride is my biggest weakness) but my primary goal is taking care of my family.
But I’m not just gonna sit here and ask for monetary help without doing anything. So, as the title says… put me to work.
You’ve probably seen some fanarts from @eliciadonze . She’s been getting a lot of hate from this fandom for years. Slurs, death and rape threats, victim blaming, everything you can imagine.
And this every single day, no matter what she did. Because it’s not really about who she is or what she draws. She never did anything wrong. It’s about people being cruel and/or jealous, and especially about people and this fandom in general feeling entitled. Because after all, everyone else does it. After all, she should just shut up about it. After all, you’re just telling her what to do, you know better, it’s not hate but advice.
The entitlement in the so called “spn family” is huge. And the hypocrisy : reblogging Jared’s mental health related stuff, buying “you’re not alone” shirts but not giving a fuck about an artist getting PTSD because of us.
This fandom is attempting to kill her. This is happening right now.
It’s tempting to just leave this fandom which, as Elicia said, cares more about 3 fictional guys than a real person. But it’s the easy way out. Less guilt, but no help.
So, if you’ve ever appreciated Elicia’s art, stand up for her. Spread the word that anyone who has an issue with her isn’t welcome on your blog. That you don’t want them to share what you create or reblog. Write it in brakets underneath your fanarts, your gifs, your fanfics. Message famous blogs, try to make them react. Ask your mutuals about Elicia, block them if they frown. Also go buy her a Ko-Fi if you can’t commission, because the hate is also ruining her career.
And speaking about this is not “ruining the mood of the fandom”. Anyone displeased by seeing people standing up for Elicia shouldn’t be welcome in this fandom anyway.
I need 10,000 more of these public posts.
Looking at the notes on this… it’s about fucking time the backlash against the hate got half as big as the backlash against Elicia. There’s not excuse for the shit she’s gotten on a daily basis for YEARS.

During the “I Wish For This” campaign, I purchased a phone case. And then I got a new phone…
So now the case doesn’t fit my phone, and instead of putting it in a drawer and forgetting about it, I want to give it away to someone who will actually use it! And I’ve been hovering around my next hundred followers and I wanted to do something for that anyways

Please read this. I know it’s a bit long. But it’s a lot to tell. We’re in danger of not only losing our home, but of being seriously hurt (or worse) by my mom’s violent alcoholic husband.
After graduating college, I planned to find a good job with my degrees and move in with my boyfriend of 3 years.
Instead, I found my boyfriend cheating and moved back home with my mom.
I’ve been unable to find a job with either of my 2 degrees in the time since. I’m making $9.25/hour working part time just so I have something to make money.
My mom’s husband thinks I’m here because I’m lazy and just want to live off of my mother forever. I guess I planned to have my heart broken and be unable to afford the home I’d built for myself…
He hates me and constantly blames me for the family’s problems. He screams and punches holes in walls, he threatens to hit me and my mother. I know it’s only a matter of time before he follows through. A few years ago, he killed my puppy while I was at work, burning his body and then lying to me about it. He’s a sick, dangerous person. On the night this and this were posted, he threatened to burn our house down with everyone inside if I didn’t leave the house immediately. When I have nowhere else to go.
The cops were called that night. And it wasn’t the first time…
I’m back home trying to pull myself together and get my feet back under me. Something far too many college kids can understand. But this man thinks it’s just me being a problem and my mother enabling my supposed lack of ambition. All of our money problems are specifically somehow because of me.
This man doesn’t have a real job. He “works” for his friend that lives in the house behind ours. He doesn’t get any benefits. He’s in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for various reasons, and that’s not an exaggeration. He spends all of his money on beer, tobacco, and back-child-support for a poor little boy he fathered during an affair and hasn’t seen since the paternity test when he was born.
My mom has been trapped in this marriage for years, because we couldn’t afford our house without him. He barely helps, but up til now, he’s helped just enough to keep a roof over our head. My mom’s only options seemed to be either stay with him, or we all become homeless.
We have 3 dogs, 4 cats, and a turtle. We couldn’t afford anything where they would be welcome. But honestly, we couldn’t afford anything in general.
As I said, I’ve been unable to find decent work. But my mom also had to retire as a teacher for medical reasons. She was then denied the disability she was originally promised, and teachers don’t get social security because they’re government employees.
We’re in a tougher financial situation than we’ve ever been in. But my mom’s husband is no longer helping us pay for our home. His spending habits and irresponsibility have led to our home being foreclosed.
We were supposed to be OUT by October 3rd, but my mom found a law firm that specializes in saving homes from foreclosure. We have to pay them $1,000 a month for four months to get their help.
We’ve already paid the first two months. We have two more to go, and then this law firm will restructure our house payments to a price mom and I can afford. By ourselves. We can get rid of her husband once and for all. We can be safe.
But my mom’s lawyer says the divorce will cost $3,000.
My mom’s husband is planning to file bankruptcy. If he does so while my mom’s still legally his wife, all of his debt will transfer to her. Unless she files with him. In which case we could lose our home despite all our efforts to save it.
It’s dire that she gets the divorce immediately. For our safety, and to save us from further economic hardship and possible homelessness.
We’re doing our best to save our home because it is ours and we have nowhere else to go. But this is all for a house which has been in disrepair for years.
Those of you who have been following me for a few years may remember a giveaway fundraiser I held in 2014 featuringSupernatural’s Osric Chau. It was to repair our home from severe flood damage.
I raised enough to fix my bedroom, and to buy materials to repair the bathrooms (one of which is still demolished down to the studs because of the severity of the water damage).
We spent all the money I made, repairing what we could. And I will forever be grateful for those who helped me put on that fundraiser and those who donated. However, we’d like to continue the reparations if at all possible. To not only save the roof over our heads, but make this a genuinely safe and happy home again.
Because it’s not safe right now. For so many reasons.
It has a goal of $10,000. We desperately need $5,000 to save our home and help my mom file for divorce. I’ve included the additional $5,000 in the goal in the hopes of repairing more damage to our house.
I hope to come up with some donation incentives as I did in the previous fundraiser, so please check back on my page if you’re interested. For now, I just need to get the fundraiser up and going as soon as possible. Our next $1,000 payment is due on December 1st, and we don’t have the money.
